Meet the team

Natalie

Natalie's love for animals started early — she began volunteering with the SSPCA at just 12 and later spent her weekends walking and socialising dogs for the Dogs Trust. Her passion took her all the way to Australia, where she volunteered with the renowned Dog Whisperer John Richardson. Since then, she's worked with Pet Fostering Service Scotland and The Blue Cross, run her own boarding and daycare facility, and gained diplomas in animal behaviour and small animal hydrotherapy.

Always learning, Natalie is now studying canine nutrition and hopes to one day open a hydrotherapy pool as part of The Dog Port - helping dogs live happier, healthier lives.

Susan and Kenny

Portobello locals Susan and Kenny are the husband-and-wife duo who help keep The Dog Port's tail wagging!

Susan first met Natalie almost 30 years ago, when she worked with Natalie's mum and discovered their shared passion for animals. That connection eventually led Susan and her husband, Kenny, to join Natalie in running a successful boarding facility. When the business closed during Covid, the trio realised they wanted to continue working together in the animal care sector, and from that, The Dog Port was formed.

Susan handles the finances with over 30 years' experience at the council and a bookkeeping qualification - she keeps everything running behind the scenes. Kenny is the resident fixer, the hands-on half of the duo, with more than 30 years' experience as a Field Service Engineer and a knack for fixing just about anything!
